Privacy Checklist (Site Contents)

The following is a list of the steps I have taken to improve my online privacy. Each of these steps will be explained/discussed on its own page eventually, as I grow the site. You will note that “use two factor authentication” and “choose strong passwords” are not on the list. If you wonder why, you have confused privacy with security, and you should read the “choosing your threat model” page first.

.) Choose your browser(s): Understand Browser Tracking and realise that it is very difficult to prevent
.) Get a VPN. But understand why you must choose one that you trust 100% and understand its limitations (i.e., it does not protect you from browser fingerprinting).
.) Set yourself up to be able to use the Tor browser on the Tor network, when you choose to
.) Use a privacy friendly search engine (like duckduckgo.com)
.) File storage and backup in a safe, privacy friendly way.
.) Phone and Messanger App Choice
.) Choose a trusted email provider
.) Consider an email (+/- phone) masking service
.) Think about social media (yes, I use it, but in a safe way)
.) Use Qubes as your operating system
.) Smart Home: I plan to make a whole separate website about my journey creating a privacy-friendly smart home.
